Split Rail Farms Nigerian Dwarf Goats
And Heritage Hens

Split Rail Farms is located in Northern California. We have our farm just north of San Francisco, in Sonoma county. We started in Marin, and moved to Penngrove last year. We raise Nigerian Dwarf Goats for milk and for pets, heritage breeds of chickens, and meat rabbits.  Nigerian Dwarf goats are miniature dairy goats that originated in West Africa. Their milk is high in butter fat and there small size makes them easy to handle. Out entire goat heard is CAE negative, and were tested November 2008.
Our chickens are chosen to lay a variety of egg colors and sizes. We sell 5 month old laying hens of many different breeds. We are working towards having a fully operational CSA, where we deliver produce, dairy, and hopefully meats some day.
Our family has diverse interests and everyone finds something they enjoy here. My husband Ben is a chef at Drakes Beach Cafe, and works on goat cheese recipes.  My father, Robert, enjoys working on farm building projects.  My mother, Maria is the goat whisperer and amazing midwife.  My little sister Helen is the official goat namer.  My brother is the documenter/ journalist. I am known as the GoatGal.
